Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Notx ("we", "us", the "Service") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our apps (Windows, Android, iOS) and website. By using Notx you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account data: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
• Your content: the notes, tasks, notebooks (categories), tags, attachments, and reminders you create. Note and task content is encrypted at rest in our database.
• Device & session data: a device identifier, platform, device model, operating system, app version, and IP address — used to secure your account and manage linked devices.
• Usage data: counters such as storage used and monthly AI operations, plus diagnostic error logs (technical only — no note content).
• Support data: messages you send through support tickets.
• Optional AI key: if you add your own AI provider key (OpenAI/Anthropic), it is stored encrypted and used only to run AI features on your behalf.
• Security data: if you enable two-factor authentication, we store an encrypted secret and recovery codes.

2. How we use your information

• To provide, sync, and secure the Service across your devices.
• To send account notifications, reminders, and email verification / password-reset codes.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To detect abuse, enforce limits, and improve reliability.

3. AI features

When you use AI features (summarize, tag suggestions), the relevant note text is sent to an AI provider to generate a response. If you provide your own key, requests go to your chosen provider under your account; otherwise they use our provider. We do not use your content to train AI models.

4. Sharing & third parties

We do not sell your data. We share data only with service providers necessary to run Notx: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider, and the AI provider used for AI features. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms.

5. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Diagnostic logs are automatically deleted after a limited period. You can export or delete your data at any time (see your rights below).

6. Your rights & choices

• Access & export: download a full copy of your data from Settings → Export my data.
• Deletion: permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete account. This is irreversible.
• Correction: edit your profile and content at any time in the app.

7. Security

We use HTTPS in transit, encryption at rest for note/task content and sensitive fields, bcrypt password hashing, rate limiting, and optional two-factor authentication. No method is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data.

8. Children

Notx is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us to remove it.

9. International users

Your data is processed on servers that may be located outside your country. By using Notx you consent to this transfer.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
